Complete the Track Contest: Progressive House

Winner announcements!

Wow! 87 firetastic submissions.

Let’s get straight to it PETE, what’s the verdict?

Well I’ll be damned if there’s been a better arsenal of submissions in a single contest. You guys made my job of judging incredibly difficult, the level was insane!

Honorable mentions

Now, before we look at who’s taken the podium, let’s give a hand to some honorable mentions:

Hyphen sorry to break the streak bro, this judging thing ain’t easy and it’s not thanks to you lol. Your production was exceptional but the execution wasn’t there for me. Keep stirring up the great tunes man:)

Missiony damn, what a good remix. You had a great vibe going and the sound design was mint, but the production and execution were missing some zest.

Okie dokie then. Podium time!

The Podium

First place – 4xharley

Congratulations to:

  • A year of Creator
  • Europa
  • Sample pack of choice from the shop
  • Featured track
  •

It’s an honor to say that in first place we have: 4xharley. When somebody comes along and submits a song like this, I feel guilty that all you get as reward is a 1st place title. Then I remembered that you also get epic prizes. This song was first place in my heart before I even heard any other submissions, and it stayed that way up until now. Production? Astounding. Execution? Who needs to make a pre-drop fill anyway? Vibe? It’s a heckin’ vibe! Thanks for this masterpiece and congratulations on getting your first feature:)

    Second place – Aikue

    Congratulations to:

  • A year of Starter
  • Sample pack of choice from the shop
  •

GAAAAHHH TRIIIIPLEEEEETS!!!!! Bro, what a banger. What. A. Banger! This has to be the best of the legendary buzz songs yet, with the brilliant execution and exceptional production. The sound design was pretty sick, but those high ends hurt at parts. Overall, amazing job bro! Alrighty then. I think we all saw this coming.

    Third place – Hxppy

    Congratulations to:

  • Sample pack of choice from the shop
  •
In third place, can we give a fat shout to Hxppy – your description says it all. You knew it would impress me, and you were too right. Excellent execution and a banger vibe made it an obvious podium contender. The production quality could have been slightly cleaner, but this issue is dwarfed by the song’s positives.

Good job folks, made me and the Soundation crew proud. This is ya boy PETE peacin’ out!

    @Katze

Fair. I just compare to what I can listen to the audio of other places like youtube or bandcamp.

At least for when working on the song, the volume of the computer should be brought up a little, because sometimes little muddiness n unwanted frequencies n stuffs are hidden at too soft a volume, which get brought out when blasting the track. It would explain why why some of my early stuff has a brick-looking waveform. Though I'm also trying to get used to checking the para eq visualizer more too (can find unwanted frequencies that way).

I guess the fact that I try to listen with low volume could be adversely impacting my decision. But honestly many really good songs are hard to listen to with a loud volume, idk

I personally think that the 2 S tier tracks (Starsplitter & RIVA 2), while excelling in creative points, could use a little work on balancing/mastering.

Maybe it's just the style to be on the loud side, but something I'm trying to practice is that tracks should feel comfortable to listen to at least at a computer volume of 16 (I'm not sure if this varies per computer) or at the volume unit or 2 before the high volume warning for mobile w headphones.

Especially since I used to work at a computer volume of 6, causing me to boost channels way beyond clipping.

I meant to say u/a's is one of my favorite not that aikue's is my favorite lmao, although the latter is still true xD

You'll notice on my version that I didn't agree that Grawlix's remix is deserving of an s, I gave it an a along with riva's first remix because to me those songs are equally good and I wouldn't give riva an s for what was his slightly inferior first remix so I didn't want to give grawlix an s either. I left him in the s position for your version because I figure most people probably think it deserves to be there

Oh, and yeah, I made a duplicate which is the one I shared, so I didn't actually change the decisions that you had made with your own remix list, I put u/a in b on your list if my memory serves me

Also you don't need to apologize, we'll just have to agree to disagree, because aikue's is my favorite along with yours and no reasoning will change my mind, the median between s and c is between b and a so there you go ;p

And I didn't rate my own a b, and I totally didn't peer pressure them into raising it back up to a c xD

Also I didn’t rate my so don’t call me biased for it being at s
