Export clips and channels
If you want to export your creations to use in different applications, you may want to export the individual clips or channels. You can export clips and channels as both audio and MIDI files.
Export clips
Exporting clips lets you save each region as a separate file. You can save any clip as an audio file (WAV) but instrument and beatmaker clips can also be saved as MIDI files.
- 1Select one or more clips and right-click
- 2Select “Export clip as WAV” or “Export MIDI file” from the menu
- 3Save the file(s) to your computer
Export channels
Exporting a channel consolidates all clips on that channel and lets you save it as a single file. You can save any channel as an audio file (WAV) but instrument and beatmaker channels can also be saved as MIDI files.
- 1Right-click on a channel
- 2Select “Export channel as WAV” or “Export channel as MIDI” from the menu
- 3Save the file to your computer
MIDI files
Exporting MIDI files allows you to transfer material from Soundation to virtually any MIDI sequencer or application on any platform. The exported MIDI file contains the notes and includes other information like velocity, time signature, and tempo. That means when you import the MIDI file to another DAW, you can pick up right where you left off in the jam session. Something to keep in mind is If the MIDI clips are empty or contain notes with 0 velocity or notes that are longer than the region, they will not be transferred.
Export project file
A studio project, or .sng file, is a file that contains all the audio files, instruments, effects and automation used in a song. You can export your song as a studio project and share it or keep a backup on your computer. If your song has imported or recorded audio, it will be a .sngz file that contains your custom audio files and the original .sng file. The file name is short for “song zip” and can be unpacked with any unzip program to find the custom audio files added to the song.
- 1Click on the Export icon from the sidebar on the right-hand side of the studio
- 2Select “Export .sng file” to download the data file of the song arrangement
