Usually I have to leave a lot of channels muted at a time when working on my home computer. I have much better performance with the college campus computers though, where I can leave practically every channel unmuted a lot of times. So I like to spend my free time living in the open computer lab :P
Thanks man. I felt the rhythm of the second half of the melody felt off when put in double time. It also needed changed to fit in with the new bass line progression (from 4:27). The piece really started coming together when I developed the synth pattern at 4:27 and the bridge section at 3:19, which really set the mood/theme of the track.
Don't let competition discourage you from participating. Make the remix for the sake of trying your hand at remixing the given track, rather than for the sake of attempting to win.
Participating in the contests gives you more exposure without being the annoying people that post unrelated tracks in the group. And in addition, practice with working with other samples/showcasing your interpretation on a piece/prompt. Most soundation contests I enter just to try it out, I haven't really entered expecting to win.
With the current competition, I think I could see top 3, still not sure about being THE winner though. My concerns for that may be that I strayed too far from the original track, that I'm still not confident at recognizing how well mixed/mastered/compressed my pieces are, and/or that others have a more concise song structure formula (Whereas I kinda just did whatever until it ended up becoming 10 minutes.)
I'm getting some f-777 vibes around 6:03-6:30. This is seriously good. I'd think of this as some kind of giant collaboration between artists, the way a bunch of styles are woven together.

Thanks. F-777 is my favorite music artist, so I guess I can sense those vibes you're getting.
Ah yes, a collaboration of artists, consisting of me, myself, and I.☺
I'm still interested in trying out a collaboration, but remixes so far has been good practice.
