The Final 3 have been picked. But before I announce the winners I’d like to thank every single person that entered this year, as without you guys the contest wouldn’t be possible.
1 – Summer Paradise by Phoenix – I love the tropical feel to your track, not something many users here can pull off nicely. Well done on first place, please contact me for your packs.
2 – Lavish by Ozcii – It’s so interesting how you can incorporate your typical chill sounds into a banging house track. Super nice! Please contact me for your pack.
3 – Mind Games by Xplour – The melodies in Mind Games are so catchy, I had them in my head all day the first time I heard it. Plus the beat really gives off a summer-feeling vibe, big ups.
Also congrats to NKM and Sam Pugh for reaching the final 5, see you guys next year.

Welcome, everybody, to the third Summer Dance contest, the only contest on Soundation to find the best artist of the so called subgenre ‘Summer Dance’. To keep it simple, I’m going to allow the same 4 genres as last year, plus two: Summer Dance, Deep House, Progressive House, Future House, Indie/Melodic House and Tropical House. If you are confused by these genres here are some examples:
Summer Dance ~ Alex Adair – Make Me Feel Better (Don Diablo & CID Remix)
Deep House ~ Azealia Banks – Chasing Time (LiTek Remix)
Progressive House ~ Martin Garrix – Forbidden Voices
Future House ~ Spraynpray – Police
Indie/Melodic House ~ Bolier & Natalie Peris – Forever And A Day (LVNDSCAPE Remix)
Tropical House ~ Coldplay – Midnight (Kygo Remix)
Why Summer Dance?
Now that spring has arrived, the weather is starting to get better and soon when summer arrives the weather will be brilliant. So why not prepare for summer with the ultimate Summer Dance track?
Info:
You have until 29th May to create your best Summer Dance track. I will pick my five favourite tracks. I will then give you guys three weeks (19th June) to vote for your favourite track. Then there will only be three remaining tracks (until next year), first, second and third place.
Rules:
1. Criticism is allowed, but no putting anybody down, no matter what!
2. Swearing is not banned, but please don’t overdo it.
3. If you want to post a WIP, please delete it once you have posted the full track.
4. Please only post ONE track. If you decide to post more than one track none of them will be judged.
5. Creating your own MIDI notes is recommended. You can use samples, but leaving them unedited gives you less of a chance to win. You can use any studio.
6. Tracks can be any length, but the recommended length is between 2 minutes and 5 minutes.
7. Tracks have to be posted via Soundation, ‘click the link’ tracks won’t be able to win, no matter how good they are.
Prizes:
1st Place – 3 soundpacks* of your choice, collab if wanted, shoutout on social media and bragging rights.
2nd Place – 1 soundpack* of your choice, collab if wanted, shoutout on social media and bragging rights.
3rd Place – Collab if wanted, shoutout on social media and bragging rights.
*Maximum £5 per soundpack (e.g. the £4.50 soundpacks) – If a collab track gets 1st or 2nd one soundpack per person.
Most importantly, have a blast :)

And Cyclosa, respect don't pay the bills! I do however, respect the creativity of all the artists here without my own bias. It's unfortunate that you feel that way for now.

@Cyclosa: See previous comment first and seriously try to recreate one of your MIDI tracks out of the samples here. Than you might get how hard it actually is to make any new sound from another one. At the end of the day it's what you can make with whatever you got. Making things from scratch is cool, but making new things from older things is just as cool and just as hard in art or music. I'm just trying to drop some wisdom on you guys since you're pretty young, but at the end of the day you're gonna think what you wanna think unless you actually try to do what I stated above. =)

@Tom: That's not true at all though. I mean I know you work with MIDI's and you prefer them, but you can jam something out with MIDI's pretty easily too. I've worked extensively with MIDI's, with samples, and with both, so they all take the same amount of direction. It's merely how creative you are with each. I mean I understand that you feel that way and at the end of the day you're the judge for this, but you're not seeing the big picture unfortunately. I'd suggest you really dig into some samples and try to make a track like one of your previous MIDI tracks and see how long it takes you.
CYCLOSA
Honestly it kindof a dick move to win a contest with premade loops. MIDI somg get a tom more respect because that is that persons own work not someone elses. And it takee a much higher skill level to make MIDI loops
Cyprasonic (a.k.a) Doc Regals
@Tom: Yeah, that sounds fair enough. :) I just wanted to stir that discussion up, so that all the different type of creators here don't feel left out because of the MIDI's you know? I mean we're all here to make music and I know that some creators here prefer one way to another (or both), so I don't feel the use or lack of use of MIDI's should effect anyone.
Cyprasonic (a.k.a) Doc Regals
@Audial: Yeah, that's true. I may have been a bit rude there so I apologize. You can also make your own sounds from Soundation samples. It's really tedious sometimes and difficult, so I just feel passionate about that. You have to just forgive me sometimes as I'm a very passionate individual who feels strongly about certain things. I just feel that we all should be as unbiased and open to all of the creators here.
Audial
Of course. But I was referring to samples that you haven't made, in general people on soundation will be using samples from the library as most cannot import ones they have made.
Cyprasonic (a.k.a) Doc Regals
@Tom: Yeah, I think it would just be fairer to all contestants in Soundation (not just top users) if you remove the MIDI statement and get that idea out of your heads. It's about the quality of your final work after all and that has nothing to do with MIDI's or how hard you work. It's only about the quality of your final musical entry, not about how it was made in reality. I mean let's just make the competitions a fun open environment for everyone without our own biases. That's all I'm asking.
Cyprasonic (a.k.a) Doc Regals
@Audial: Yeah, I agree with your first part of course, but the MIDI part simply isn't true even in a general sense. Really? Imagine telling that to a guitar player in Metallica or a producer for a Michael Jackson song. Not true at all. Skill and talent has nothing to do with samples or MIDI's it has to do with the quality of your work, period. You guys can lie to yourself for your preferences, but it's simply not true in the real world.
Paradox
I might have a chance at this contest! yay!
