Counts Lecture Continue...
Now i have talked about downbeats, let's touch on upbeats. These are all the "&" counts. If you split a quarter note (1 beat) in half you get two half beats or 2 Eighth notes. these are halfway between each quarter note/beat. The proper way to count knowing this is: 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 &. Yes, the fourth beat also has an and count.
I will be creating a single track giving an example of counts. look forward to it.

What Are Counts?
Okay, so you've hear the term "counts" before. Though maybe you don't quite know what that is in terms of music. I will attempt to break this down for you guys so you can understand and hopefully utilize this knowledge in future projects.
Counts is a term in music theory. If you have danced to any kind of song or track you already have an idea of what a count is. Downbeats set the tempo for the whole song/track. When you count downbeats you have to consider the time signature in a song/track. The most typical time signature is 4/4. (cont...)

Counts Lecture continue...
This means that for every measure or bar there are four quarter notes or four beats (1, 2, 3, and 4). 3/4 means that for every measure there will be three quarter notes or three beats. A typical piece that has a 3/4 time signature is called a waltz. So in lamens terms, 1 quarter note = 1 beat.

I've got a neat little trick for you guys to try out next time you're in the studio. I call this the Synth Choir and you'll hear why if you do this correctly.
PUT IT TOGETHER:If you used the supersaw tune it a little bit so it's not quite in tune but still detuned. Attach a lowpass filter and lower the cuttoff to around 597hz and raise the resonance to around 60%. Next attach a highpass filter and lower the cutoff to around 780Hz. Raise the resonance to around 80%.
If you did this correctly you should have a choir-like synth
