Soundation's First Trip-Hop Contest

As anybody on this site would know, there’s a whole host of other genres that people don’t generally make. One of theses genres, and one of the most under-represented genres at that, is Trip-Hop. A portmanteau of “trippy” and “hip-hop”, Trip-Hop has been described as “a fusion of hip hop and electronica until neither genre is recognisable”. The genre originated in Britain in the early nineties, around the time Austin Powers was brought out of cryostasis. It is the goal of this contest to introduce Soundation to one of the best-sounding genres out there. Before entering, please refer to the information below.

DA RULEZ

1). In order to allow everyone to participate, the song entered must be 100% Soundation.

2). You may not spam your or anybody else’s entry (or anything at all, for that matter) in the comment section.

3). You may not bribe the judges.

4). You must submit an original track (no remixes) between the lengths of 3:30 to 6 minutes long.

5). You may not enter a collaboration track, cuz that would mess up the prize system.

6). If your name is Phillip Zhong, you may not come anywhere near this contest.

7). You may only submit one (1) song.

8.) Judges may not submit.

DA TIMELINE

The contest will be open to join until February First, 2015. The contest will be open for submissions on New Year’s Day (January First), 2015. You will have until February Fifteenth, 2015, to submit. After that, the submissions will be judged by a panel of three judges. The Top Three tracks will be announced on March First, 2015.

DA SCORING SYSTEM

Your track will be judged from 1 to 20 in three criteria by three judges, with a maximum possible score of 60 each, or 180 total. These are the criteria:

1). Accuracy. (You will be judged on how trip-hoppy your song is)

2). Originality. (This category speaks for itself, really)

3. Musicality. (You will be judged on how good the song sounds, i.e. chord progression, flow, beats, etc)
