It’s time for Soundation to have a go at a genre-based challenge!

Hosting this contest will be our very own DNB master OFT. Over the last couple of years, one genre that has been blowing up anywhere from TikTok to adverts on TV is Drum and Bass. Drum and bass is a genre of electronic music characterized by fast breakbeats with heavy bass and sub-bass lines, samples, and synthesizers. The genre grew out of the UK’s jungle scene in the early 1990s. Examples of modern Drum and bass:Rusko – Everyday (Netsky Remix)Wilkinson – Afterglow Camo & Krooked – All Fall Down (Fred V & Grafix Remix) For this competition, we are asking you to produce your very own song in this genre!

Deadline: February 25th Winner will be announced on February 28th

It will be judged on a number of criteria:

• Creativity

• Accuracy to Genre

• Mixing and Mastering

We have some general advice for the submissions: Try to keep the tempo 160-180bpm, this is where the drums sound best! The Drums in DnB have a distinctive style, so try using the Amen Break when making your drums. There will be a Discord channel dedicated to this contest on the Soundation Discord, there may be a good place to come up with ideas! You have a lot of time so don’t feel you need to rush it. Feel free to invite your friends to a collab if you get stuck. Stay calm! For many of you this will be your first time making music in this genre. Play around, see what works!

In terms of Prizes, we have some huge rewards!

First place earns a spot on the featured tracks, as well as getting a full 12 months of Creator account, 12 months of Europa, $25 digital cash, a sample pack from the sound shop of their choosing, and an opportunity to collaborate on a DnB album with OFT!

Second place earns a feature on the Drum and Bass group, as well as getting a month of Creator, a sample pack from the sound shop of their choosing, and an opportunity to collaborate on a track with OFT.

Third will earn a feature on the Drum and Bass group, a sample pack from the sound shop of their choosing, and an opportunity to collaborate on a track with OFT. Any other tracks have a good chance to be featured at least once in the drum and bass group, and will be reposted on Soundcloud by OFT too! You can of course collab, but prizes are limited to 2 users per ranking.

We also have some rules for the contest:

• Make sure you keep the final production of your song to Soundation!

• Try to be original, don’t steal from other songs…

• Only post contest songs into this group.
