How-to: Use the Virtual Keyboard

Step 1

Click on the Keyboard icon on the lower right hand corner of the Studio.

Step 2

The Keyboard will not make any sounds until you highlight the track you want the Virtual Keyboard to be assigned to. To highlight, click on an instrument channel(click the blue channel view with the channel controls like volume and pan).

Step 3

Once assigned to an instrument, you can audition the notes by clicking the cursor on one of the keyboard notes or pressing your computer keyboard on one of the designated notes.

Step 4

You can change the position of the octave (from C3 to C1 for example) by opening the Octave drop down menu and selecting a higher or lower octave setting.

Recording Notes

To record what you are playing on the Virtual Keyboard simply click the Record button while a blue instrument channel is active and Soundation will automatically record it to a Note Clip. The same applies when using an external MIDI Keyboard.
