VGM Contest
Announcing the Winners! After an intense round of judging, we have our top tracks! 🥇 First Place - "Sirens Call" by reptilian (81 Points) A beautifully arranged piece with an incredible blend of elements and sound selection. The GameBoy-style pulse sound gives it a classic VGM feel, and the escalation riff is masterfully done. The subtle samplerate reduction adds a polished touch that makes this track feel like a true boss battle theme. Brings me straight back into the boss fights from Cyberpunk, but would fit into nearly any game 🥈 Second Place - "Void Space" by DUTCH (80 Points) This track is a complete and coherent composition with a super smooth mix. The balance of variation and structure makes it feel game-ready. It's clear that DUTCHY, the legend, has a strong grasp of VGM production, delivering a track that sounds like it could be shipped straight into a game, and teleports me straight to the late 90s snowboard cross games. 🥉 Third Place - A Three-Way Tie! (76 Points Each) "FOUL" by ithoundrist - A thumping, bass-driven track with an intricate drum rhythm and excellent sound design. It gives off strong Japanese game vibes and has a powerful atmosphere. "Fallen Worlds" by reptilian - A track full of exaggerated bitcrushing effects, creating a "modern platformer" sound. Bonus points for keeping the Amen break alive! Wisp Planet Act 1 (DNB Remix)" by Polaris - A solid remix flexing impressive sound design. While it's a cover, it still absolutely nails the competition's theme. Prizes First Place: Featured spot on the Soundation homepage, 12 months of Creator account, 12 months of Europa Synth Second Place: Featured spot on the soundation homepage, 1 month of Creator account, 1 month of Europa Synth Third Place: Featured spot on the Electronic group page, Featured spot on the VGM group page, 1 month of Europa Synth Honorable Mentions: Selected tracks may be reposted on SoundCloud or featured in the VGM group. Thanks to Everyone Who Entered! We were blown away by the level of talent in this contest. DNB Contest
Drum and Bass Soundation contest Announcement! It may have been a long time since Soundation last ran a contest like this, but the entries were more impressive than ever! We were blown away by the quality of the submissions, and as a result it gave us some large thinking to do. However, we both agreed that a entry relatively late in the day was able to take the win in our view! Congratulations SLOCM3Z on taking the overall win! In our view, “The Thug” is a top tier track, and we couldn’t believe it when we heard it – meaning it is fully deserving of not only the top spot, but also to be featured for all to see! We felt that the sampling used was brilliant, alongside incredible sound design and typical drum and bass grit. You were able to push the studio so far during the production, and we hope the prize of Creator acount, and a 12 month pass for Europa will allow you to continue expanding and improving too! In a very close second, we have Aikue. “You Had Gone” is a brilliant example of liquid dnb of the type we would be used to hearing from some of the industries finest. Like with SLOCM3Z, you had just about the perfect sample for the track, and the instrumentation is not only perfectly used but also demonstrates the sort of sounds we all love to hear. We will all be able to listen more on the #Drum and Bass genre group, of which your track will be featured in, alongside the other prizes listed. In our final spot in the top 3, we have “Emails” by ENTERORRHAGIA. This harked back to some oldschool drum and bass which was a very cool throwback and almost perfectly done. The chopped drums and the punchy bass conspired to make this a super groovy pick for us, and was defo on repeat for some time. However, we had to say the standards were sky high for this contest, and as the top 3 was such a hard list to pick, we have a number of honorable mentions we wished to shoutout too. False + Unclassic - Bass N Drum - Great experimental textures, and unbelievably good sample used. Top notch sound design too.Sam the Giant – Godspeed – Lovely vibe, very smooth and creative, could have listened to this for hours. Great groove. B4S5RE4P3R - Crumb and Bass - Great atmospheric drum and bass, wubs and overall soundscape. Banger!Volk – Safe house – Echoy vibey song adding dubstep influence into the studio, reminding us of the father of the Wub machine... great tension building and swing. Theman17 – hyper – Phat sawstacks encompased this well produced arping groovebox of a song. Not heard any songs by this user before, but they are definatly one to keep an eye on for future! For everyone else, just because your song is not on this list does not mean we didn't really enjoy listening to it! These will be on repeat for some time. If you want any feedback, don't hesitate to message OFT for it. Thank you all for sharing your work. For now, check out the drum and bass genre group to see the new tracks, and keep your eyes and ears peeled for new Soundation contests coming soon! ⚡️ - OFT and BLEZZ 2022

Cheapskates (free users unite!)
Think you need a premium account to make good music on here? Nah that's rubbish, I am a free users and think soundation is great without any of the paid stuff. So if you want to show off what you can do with a free account join now and post your stuff. Have fun and share your music! Edit: Soundation are making it harder and harder for new users, from restricting the number of instrument tracks in each project to removing automation. This is really unfortunate. All I can suggest for those who miss these features but do not want to pay a premium for them is that you give audiotool a try.
Christmas contest
Christmas is finally over!Thank you for all your submissions! Excuse the delayed announcement. Unfortunately, there were a lot of songs that weren't made using Soundation or couldn't be verified so some of the runner-ups were disqualified.Congratulations to the winners, expect a magic upgrade and a DM.Winners1st placeHyphen - Jingle Bells remixHyphen was a bit OP in this contest, he’s had his share of features and it’s surprising he’s still squeezing things out on a free account. It’s time bro. Very smooth production and a nice play on the jingle bells melody. 2nd placeJOBEATZ2 - Carol of the beatz Hard trap beat with some Xmas elements in it, the mix is a bit off and it could need some more dynamics and switch-ups, but all in all, well played. 3rd placeXASTOLIAM - ChroniclesVery well-arranged and full-bodied production. It would have landed second place if it had some Christmas in it. Mix tip: tune your compression wisely, dial it back a little bit and don’t go ham on it all the way through - the end result will sound a lot more professional. Thanks Moon for putting this together!
