Beta Studio Test
Hi Testers, thank you for participating in a beta test of our new Studio! What's the plan? We will open this group for at least a month for all testers to post bug reports and general feedback. Your insights will provide invaluable assistance in the fine-tuning of our studio before its official release in the coming months. What's new in the Studio? We've made major changes from an architecture point of view so our new Studio has gained a major performance boost. More specifically, the new Studio is based on WebAssembly and is using components that are completely new in a browser. This helps us build a more powerful and stable Studio which in turn lets you create more demanding projects. While there are no new features added to the new Studio, this will facilitate any further improvements and added features in the future! What should I do? Make as many tracks as possible using our beta Studio: https://beta-studio.soundation.com (Important: Use this link only) on Chrome version 70. If you find any bugs in the process, please comment in this group with the information: What I did, what went wrong, what I expected + Operating system + Studio and Engine version Is there anything I should be aware of? Yes. Please find below more info on buffer size/latency and some known issues: 1. Buffer size vs. latency • Increasing buffer size makes the Studio work more fluently, with less risk of glitches but with cost in latency (recommended for projects with long effect filter chains and/or many SendTo effect instances). • Decreasing buffer size makes the Studio work with smaller latency but with cost in risk of glitches and fluency (recommended for simpler projects with shorten effect filter chains). Recommended buffer size is 512 or 1024. • In case of complex projects and need of short latency, try to mute as many those channels which has the longest effect filter chains and then decrease buffer size to 256, 512. 2. Known bugs raised by testers (work in progress): • Some presets of WubMachine (using Retrigger) differs in the beta studio • The studio stops responding when used for a long time 3. Current Studio version 2.0.1 Engine version 1.7.1 4. Improvements added • Import of flac • Import of mp4 (including import of the AAC coded audio track from video mp4 file) • Option to enable Turbo Mode to maximize CPU usage What will I get? In return for your help in scrutinizing our new Studio, you will get one item from our sound shop for free at the end of the testing period. We really appreciate your time and feedback. If you have any questions feel free to post here. Now, have fun with our new Studio! Team Soundation 👉 Access the beta Studio here: https://beta-studio.soundation.com
VGM Contest
Announcing the Winners! After an intense round of judging, we have our top tracks! 🥇 First Place - "Sirens Call" by reptilian (81 Points) A beautifully arranged piece with an incredible blend of elements and sound selection. The GameBoy-style pulse sound gives it a classic VGM feel, and the escalation riff is masterfully done. The subtle samplerate reduction adds a polished touch that makes this track feel like a true boss battle theme. Brings me straight back into the boss fights from Cyberpunk, but would fit into nearly any game 🥈 Second Place - "Void Space" by DUTCH (80 Points) This track is a complete and coherent composition with a super smooth mix. The balance of variation and structure makes it feel game-ready. It's clear that DUTCHY, the legend, has a strong grasp of VGM production, delivering a track that sounds like it could be shipped straight into a game, and teleports me straight to the late 90s snowboard cross games. 🥉 Third Place - A Three-Way Tie! (76 Points Each) "FOUL" by ithoundrist - A thumping, bass-driven track with an intricate drum rhythm and excellent sound design. It gives off strong Japanese game vibes and has a powerful atmosphere. "Fallen Worlds" by reptilian - A track full of exaggerated bitcrushing effects, creating a "modern platformer" sound. Bonus points for keeping the Amen break alive! Wisp Planet Act 1 (DNB Remix)" by Polaris - A solid remix flexing impressive sound design. While it's a cover, it still absolutely nails the competition's theme. Complete the Track Contest: Progressive House
Winner announcements! Wow! 87 firetastic submissions. Let's get straight to it PETE, what's the verdict? Well I’ll be damned if there’s been a better arsenal of submissions in a single contest. You guys made my job of judging incredibly difficult, the level was insane! Honorable mentions Now, before we look at who’s taken the podium, let’s give a hand to some honorable mentions: Hyphen sorry to break the streak bro, this judging thing ain’t easy and it’s not thanks to you lol. Your production was exceptional but the execution wasn’t there for me. Keep stirring up the great tunes man:) Missiony damn, what a good remix. You had a great vibe going and the sound design was mint, but the production and execution were missing some zest. Okie dokie then. Podium time! The Podium First place - 4xharley Congratulations to: A year of Creator Europa Sample pack of choice from the shop Featured track It’s an honor to say that in first place we have: 4xharley. When somebody comes along and submits a song like this, I feel guilty that all you get as reward is a 1st place title. Then I remembered that you also get epic prizes. This song was first place in my heart before I even heard any other submissions, and it stayed that way up until now. Production? Astounding. Execution? Who needs to make a pre-drop fill anyway? Vibe? It’s a heckin' vibe! Thanks for this masterpiece and congratulations on getting your first feature:) Second place - Aikue Congratulations to: A year of Starter Sample pack of choice from the shop GAAAAHHH TRIIIIPLEEEEETS!!!!! Bro, what a banger. What. A. Banger! This has to be the best of the legendary buzz songs yet, with the brilliant execution and exceptional production. The sound design was pretty sick, but those high ends hurt at parts. Overall, amazing job bro! Alrighty then. I think we all saw this coming. Third place - Hxppy Congratulations to: Sample pack of choice from the shop In third place, can we give a fat shout to Hxppy - your description says it all. You knew it would impress me, and you were too right. Excellent execution and a banger vibe made it an obvious podium contender. The production quality could have been slightly cleaner, but this issue is dwarfed by the song’s positives. Good job folks, made me and the Soundation crew proud. This is ya boy PETE peacin' out!
