It’s a new year, so let’s do something different. This month’s playlist is curated by me, Kal, Soundation’s community moderator/admin/coordinator/police or whatever you want to call it. 🌚
All 15 tracks here are my recent discoveries in the deep, dark depths of SoundCloud and some music festivals I’ve been to in 2018. This is not your dinner party-friendly playlist, but a dungeon-friendly one you might want to listen to in, well, a dungeon.
I devote the first part of my playlist to drone. From a Super Mario Bros-sampled track by a random SoundCloud account to modular synth sounds by an artist in Hungary, the first 6 tracks are melancholic but, to me at least, uplifting.
The next part is the kind of uncompromising club tunes. It consists of 6 tracks ranging from sumptuous techno, sound art with vocal gymnastics to something that sounds like a robot stuttering. Errorsmith’s track, and his live version played at a festival held in an old iron ore mine in the middle of nowhere in Sweden, was out of this world.
I end the mix with something weird and fun. Don’t miss the last track – a hidden gem from 1985. Hope you enjoy it!
