Drum and Bass Soundation contest Announcement! It may have been a long time since Soundation last ran a contest like this, but the entries were more impressive than ever! We were blown away by the quality of the submissions, and as a result it gave us some large thinking to do. However, we both agreed that a entry relatively late in the day was able to take the win in our view! Congratulations SLOCM3Z on taking the overall win! In our view, “The Thug” is a top tier track, and we couldn’t believe it when we heard it – meaning it is fully deserving of not only the top spot, but also to be featured for all to see! We felt that the sampling used was brilliant, alongside incredible sound design and typical drum and bass grit. You were able to push the studio so far during the production, and we hope the prize of Creator acount, and a 12 month pass for Europa will allow you to continue expanding and improving too! In a very close second, we have Aikue. “You Had Gone” is a brilliant example of liquid dnb of the type we would be used to hearing from some of the industries finest. Like with SLOCM3Z, you had just about the perfect sample for the track, and the instrumentation is not only perfectly used but also demonstrates the sort of sounds we all love to hear. We will all be able to listen more on the #Drum and Bass genre group, of which your track will be featured in, alongside the other prizes listed. In our final spot in the top 3, we have “Emails” by ENTERORRHAGIA. This harked back to some oldschool drum and bass which was a very cool throwback and almost perfectly done. The chopped drums and the punchy bass conspired to make this a super groovy pick for us, and was defo on repeat for some time. However, we had to say the standards were sky high for this contest, and as the top 3 was such a hard list to pick, we have a number of honorable mentions we wished to shoutout too. False + Unclassic - Bass N Drum - Great experimental textures, and unbelievably good sample used. Top notch sound design too.Sam the Giant – Godspeed – Lovely vibe, very smooth and creative, could have listened to this for hours. Great groove. B4S5RE4P3R - Crumb and Bass - Great atmospheric drum and bass, wubs and overall soundscape. Banger!Volk – Safe house – Echoy vibey song adding dubstep influence into the studio, reminding us of the father of the Wub machine... great tension building and swing. Theman17 – hyper – Phat sawstacks encompased this well produced arping groovebox of a song. Not heard any songs by this user before, but they are definatly one to keep an eye on for future!For everyone else, just because your song is not on this list does not mean we didn't really enjoy listening to it! COGNITION Remix Competition
Hey! Thanks for getting my song to trending! How about a remix competition, eh? Let's do it! So, here are the rules: You are allowed to use any DAW you choose, but if you use Soundation, I will add an extra point to your score. You are limited to a single track! You can collaborate with 1 other person. The deadline is March 10th. (It may be extended if there is more time needed and/or for personal reasons.) That's literally all there is to it. There's a discord server if anyone wants to submit their track through both systems, and I'll think about and announce the prizes on the 10th of February. Happy remixing! The progressive house take you had on this song blew my mind. The buildup is fantastic. Those plucks in the drop are so clean. 14 points overall. Let's not forget the other competitors! Vii: your remix had its own sort of house style to it. It put you in 6th place with 8 points. WWYR2M: great sound design, but the phaser on some stuff was tripping me a little. 7th place with 7 points. B4S5RE4P3R and Amber: you both had unique remixes that definitely stood out within the crowd. You tied with 5 points, landing you both in 8th place for the competition. Bro, what a banger. What. A. Banger! This has to be the best of the legendary buzz songs yet, with the brilliant execution and exceptional production. The sound design was pretty sick, but those high ends hurt at parts. Overall, amazing job bro! Alrighty then. I think we all saw this coming. Third place - Hxppy Congratulations to: Sample pack of choice from the shop In third place, can we give a fat shout to Hxppy - your description says it all. You knew it would impress me, and you were too right. Excellent execution and a banger vibe made it an obvious podium contender. The production quality could have been slightly cleaner, but this issue is dwarfed by the song’s positives. Good job folks, made me and the Soundation crew proud. This is ya boy PETE peacin' out!

Christmas is finally over!Thank you for all your submissions! Excuse the delayed announcement. Unfortunately, there were a lot of songs that weren't made using Soundation or couldn't be verified so some of the runner-ups were disqualified.Congratulations to the winners, expect a magic upgrade and a DM.Winners1st placeHyphen - Jingle Bells remixHyphen was a bit OP in this contest, he’s had his share of features and it’s surprising he’s still squeezing things out on a free account. Very smooth production and a nice play on the jingle bells melody. 2nd placeJOBEATZ2 - Carol of the beatz Hard trap beat with some Xmas elements in it, the mix is a bit off and it could need some more dynamics and switch-ups, but all in all, well played. 3rd placeXASTOLIAM - ChroniclesVery well-arranged and full-bodied production. It would have landed second place if it had some Christmas in it. Mix tip: tune your compression wisely, dial it back a little bit and don’t go ham on it all the way through - the end result will sound a lot more professional. Thanks Moon for putting this together!
Floating Remix Comp!
Hello everyone! If you have followed my music or listened to any of my music (or even if you haven't), you can join this remix competition! My current most popular song is called Floating. One of the first songs I posted after I restarted my account on Soundation. The sng file is below, and you can use it to remix with. Now, some things about the competition you sould know. 1. You may submit more than one remix, but if you win, only one of your songs will be featured. 2. You are not allowed to claim the original file as your own and publish it. Doing so will result in disqualification from the competition and me sending a report to the Soundation Team. If you have made the remix clearly your own, then there will not be an issue. 3. Only 3 remixes will be featured, along with 3 honorable mentions. 4. Remixes do not have to be in any specific style, just remix it how you wish. 5. The competition will close on January 26th, 2022. This gives you 5 weeks to complete the remix. The results will come out on January 29th. 6. Those joining mid competition can still submit a remix. It will just be more difficult to get a good one in with extremely limited time. 7. Surrealism Remix Competition
Alrighty my guys! The winners are announced! Gotta say, even tho there were only 5 submissions, this was extremely difficult to judge. 3rd Place: OFT. Gotta say man, this track put a great spin on SURREALISM. The DnB drums and the slightly ambient intro really sold it. Tbh it made me think of a track by WRLD (a monstercat artist btw). The only critique I would make is that I wish -and my headphones broke recently so maybe my speakers just suck ;-;- the drop was a little bit less distorted. Amazing job man! 2nd place: Hyphen. Bro... I'm terrible at genres, but whatever that genre was, it was amazing! Totally something I would bash my head to. Really added to the intensity of SURREALISM. I would have personally made the lead in the 2nd half of the drop slightly more ambient, but again, it did really increase the headbanger/intense quality. GJ! And finally, our winner is...... 4xHarley!!! Man, seriously, this track blew my mind. I would have never thought someone would make a cinematic remix. It was absolutely amazing, You completely transformed the track while still keeping the original elements like the melodies and chords. Amazing job man! As for Missiony and Lettasu, y'all also did an amazing job, but here are some critiques I would give. Lettasu, your track gave me sort of an Au5 vibe, which was aboslutely amazing, but I would say that it should have been slightly less distorted. Maybe some added reverb and more ear candy. Missiony, your track was definately ambient, and had more of an EDMish feel to it for sure, but it didn't really expand on the track as I would have liked it to. All in all you both still did a great job. Alrighty, that's all folks! Congrats to all of the winners! You all did an amazing job! I will be contacting y'all within the next week about prizes. I am in the middle of moving back into my house that me and my family have been out of for 6 months, so this weekend will be a little too busy for me to distribute everything, but I give you my word, I will get the prizes out.
