This week's review goes to "The Stage"

.

A potential synth hit and a masterpiece in the making by Holly Jones. I saw that you wanted to add vocals. Find out how you can prep your track to make it a perfect canvas for vocals below!

(1/4) Feedback on "The Stage"

• It’s very easy to follow what you are aiming for with this track, which is a great thing. This track is built up in a way that would suit vocals very well.

• All works great, both with the composition as well as the mixing until 0.59 where a new element is introduced. The small issue here is that the arpeggio is in the wrong key compared to the rest. Same goes with the piano tones here. If you transpose them it might align better. Trust your ears. :)

(2/4) Feedback on "The Stage"

• At 0.16 I think the congas aren't in sync with the rest. At 1.31 it sounds like we're listening to different tracks at the same time. But there's a way to fix it!

• So firstly, try to get each part in the track in key. When this is done, vocals would fit in great.

• Pro tip: Instead of looking at the whole project at once, you can loop 8 bars at a time until you are totally happy with that part, then you go over the following 8 bars and so on.

(3/4) Feedback on "The Stage"

• For mixing, the sounds in the track are overall good. It’s great that you have the beats in focus because it's perfect for the style you're going for.

• I would smoothen up the hi-hats at the end of the track. Here you can lower the volume a bit and I'd also cut the higher frequencies with our Parametric EQ.
