Hassan El-Gendi (a.k.a the hassinian) is an artist/youth educator with over 25 years of experience in creative youth development, hip hop songwriting and production. He started out as a member of The CityKids Foundation (CityKids) - pioneers of programming that supports the social-emotional learning of young people through the performing and creative arts.
He is currently mentoring court-involved youth in Harlem through the Plus Mentoring afterschool program at the Children’s Village and is also hard at work on his follow up to his latest project, tentatively titled 'for colored boys (who have considered suicide when hip-hop is not enough)' which will also be accompanied by workshops designed to encourage critical thinking and empathic action around the topics he explores in his music.
