You can do that in the soundation studio. There are the little blue tracks on the left, and then you create note clips. Go to the group "Team Soundation," and ask how to create your own loops for tons more info. I don't use the soundation studio so I'm not too familiar with it, but you can learn a ton from other artists.

Try making your own loops with MIDI. Once you get the hang of it it's really fun and you can say the song was done all on your own :)
