VGM Contest
Announcing the Winners! After an intense round of judging, we have our top tracks! 🥇 First Place - "Sirens Call" by reptilian (81 Points) A beautifully arranged piece with an incredible blend of elements and sound selection. The GameBoy-style pulse sound gives it a classic VGM feel, and the escalation riff is masterfully done. The subtle samplerate reduction adds a polished touch that makes this track feel like a true boss battle theme. Brings me straight back into the boss fights from Cyberpunk, but would fit into nearly any game 🥈 Second Place - "Void Space" by DUTCH (80 Points) This track is a complete and coherent composition with a super smooth mix. The balance of variation and structure makes it feel game-ready. It's clear that DUTCHY, the legend, has a strong grasp of VGM production, delivering a track that sounds like it could be shipped straight into a game, and teleports me straight to the late 90s snowboard cross games. 🥉 Third Place - A Three-Way Tie! (76 Points Each) "FOUL" by ithoundrist - A thumping, bass-driven track with an intricate drum rhythm and excellent sound design. It gives off strong Japanese game vibes and has a powerful atmosphere. "Fallen Worlds" by reptilian - A track full of exaggerated bitcrushing effects, creating a "modern platformer" sound. Bonus points for keeping the Amen break alive! Wisp Planet Act 1 (DNB Remix)" by Polaris - A solid remix flexing impressive sound design. While it's a cover, it still absolutely nails the competition's theme. Prizes First Place: Featured spot on the Soundation homepage, 12 months of Creator account, 12 months of Europa Synth Second Place: Featured spot on the soundation homepage, 1 month of Creator account, 1 month of Europa Synth Third Place: Featured spot on the Electronic group page, Featured spot on the VGM group page, 1 month of Europa Synth Honorable Mentions: Selected tracks may be reposted on SoundCloud or featured in the VGM group. Complete the Track Contest: Progressive House
Winner announcements! Wow! 87 firetastic submissions. Let's get straight to it PETE, what's the verdict? Well I’ll be damned if there’s been a better arsenal of submissions in a single contest. You guys made my job of judging incredibly difficult, the level was insane! Honorable mentions Now, before we look at who’s taken the podium, let’s give a hand to some honorable mentions: Hyphen sorry to break the streak bro, this judging thing ain’t easy and it’s not thanks to you lol. Your production was exceptional but the execution wasn’t there for me. Keep stirring up the great tunes man:) Missiony damn, what a good remix. You had a great vibe going and the sound design was mint, but the production and execution were missing some zest. Okie dokie then. Podium time! The Podium First place - 4xharley Congratulations to: A year of Creator Europa Sample pack of choice from the shop Featured track It’s an honor to say that in first place we have: 4xharley. When somebody comes along and submits a song like this, I feel guilty that all you get as reward is a 1st place title. Then I remembered that you also get epic prizes. This song was first place in my heart before I even heard any other submissions, and it stayed that way up until now. Production? Astounding. Execution? Who needs to make a pre-drop fill anyway? Vibe? It’s a heckin' vibe! Thanks for this masterpiece and congratulations on getting your first feature:) Second place - Aikue Congratulations to: A year of Starter Sample pack of choice from the shop GAAAAHHH TRIIIIPLEEEEETS!!!!! Bro, what a banger. What. A. Banger! This has to be the best of the legendary buzz songs yet, with the brilliant execution and exceptional production. The sound design was pretty sick, but those high ends hurt at parts. Overall, amazing job bro! Alrighty then. I think we all saw this coming. Third place - Hxppy Congratulations to: Sample pack of choice from the shop In third place, can we give a fat shout to Hxppy - your description says it all. You knew it would impress me, and you were too right. Excellent execution and a banger vibe made it an obvious podium contender. The production quality could have been slightly cleaner, but this issue is dwarfed by the song’s positives. Good job folks, made me and the Soundation crew proud. This is ya boy PETE peacin' out!
Christmas contest
Christmas is finally over!Thank you for all your submissions! Excuse the delayed announcement. Unfortunately, there were a lot of songs that weren't made using Soundation or couldn't be verified so some of the runner-ups were disqualified.Congratulations to the winners, expect a magic upgrade and a DM.Winners1st placeHyphen - Jingle Bells remixHyphen was a bit OP in this contest, he’s had his share of features and it’s surprising he’s still squeezing things out on a free account. It’s time bro. Very smooth production and a nice play on the jingle bells melody. 2nd placeJOBEATZ2 - Carol of the beatz Hard trap beat with some Xmas elements in it, the mix is a bit off and it could need some more dynamics and switch-ups, but all in all, well played. 3rd placeXASTOLIAM - ChroniclesVery well-arranged and full-bodied production. It would have landed second place if it had some Christmas in it. Mix tip: tune your compression wisely, dial it back a little bit and don’t go ham on it all the way through - the end result will sound a lot more professional. Thanks Moon for putting this together!
