Solutions to technical issues in the studio.
Perhaps it’s time to upgrade your account! As a Free user, you can save tracks that contain audio from our free sound library, but you won’t be able to save recorded or imported audio.
If you open a saved track and the audio files aren’t loading, you’re likely on a plan that doesn’t support recorded and imported audio. To save tracks containing your own audio files, you’ll need a paid account. (Believe us, it’s worth it). Upgrade here.
Rule #1: Check your loop. It could be that the yellow loop locators are active and set either to a very short range or not the full track.
When the loop locators are active, the studio will only publish and export the clips within the locators. If they’re set too short, there may not be anything to export at all.
A solution is to turn off the loop locators by clicking the yellow line in the timeline or ticking off “Loop” in the transport bar. You can also set the loop locators to your song from start to end so you can decide the range you’d like to export.
Don’t worry, this can typically be fixed by setting the studio to a higher or lower buffer size.
To do this, click “Settings” on the right menu in the studio. Choose a higher number in the drop down menu under “Buffer Size” and click “OK”.
If your project contains many effects, the recommended buffer size is 2048. Increasing the buffer size will help make the studio working more fluently and prevent glitches or clicks. However, this might introduce additional latency – the delay your computer introduces between the time you play or sing a note and when you hear the sound.
If your project is simpler and does not contain many effects, the recommended buffer size is 512 or 1024. Decreasing the buffer size will help reduce latency, but may cause a bit of glitches.
When it comes to finding the perfect buffer size, it all depends on your project so try raising or lowering the buffer size until the playback is smooth!
Imagine a movie. Because of a higher film rate, you see a smooth flow of images instead of a sequence of still images. The same goes with a sample rate in audio.
If a sound is played back in the wrong pitch, most likely it’s in a non-supported sample rate. When importing audio, make sure you use only audio files with a sample rate of 44.1 kHZ. (The bitrate can be both 16 and 24 bit.)
For recording audio, make sure your audio interface or computer audio settings are set to use a sample rate of 44.1 kHz. Please also double check that your computer sound settings are set to use 44.1 khz. If your computer uses any other sample rate, the studio will automatically convert an mp3 file to the sample rate of your computer, which can be different from the one used by Soundation.
This shouldn’t be happening! In the rare case that playback is unresponsive, please restart your browser and studio and try again.
You can also clear browsing data by clearing “Cached images and files” from “The beginning of time” on your browser’s settings then restarting the studio. Clearing the cache will let the studio redownload all resources.
If you can’t save your track, make sure you’re fully logged in, as a browser session can sometimes log you out without you noticing. You can also try logging out and in again within the studio without closing the studio down and then try saving your track again.
All imported and recorded audio is stored under “Import sounds” tab in the sound library. To clear up your storage space, make sure you delete files here as well.
Or if you’re on an Intro subscription, you can, you know, upgrade to get more storage.
Unfortunately once you’ve deleted tracks from your studio, it’s not possible for us to retrieve them. To prevent losing unsaved work, export your track in .sng file and make sure to check (and double check!) that you delete the right tracks before clicking to confirm!
There could be a connection issue caused by an internet router or firewall. A solution to this is to make sure you are connected and whitelist soundation.com in the router settings.
