keiu: The triangle is how many Plays (I am not sure what counts as a Play - I am guessing that playing even a little bit counts). The heart is how many "Likes" (to add a Like, click on the link to go to the track's own page and click the big heart). Have you managed to Vote yet? (You should see Unvote on the track if your vote has been recorded.) A lot of this is guesswork on my part.

cont. @ Franksier, I've seen this thing grow and develop in the two years that I've been using it and I know it's only going to get better. So for the ones that are really interested in it, I would suggest keeping with it. And though I am not trying to convince anyone to do so: any one of the paid accounts would give you a lot of extra features to play with. But if not, it's never a bad idea to browse through the sound shop and see if you can't pick out a soundpack you think you could use later. It's fun trying to build sounds from scratch, also :) part of the reason why I love Soundation.

@Franksier, Thank you for the info! I've been using Soundation since December 4, 2010. Everything that I have done is completely self-taught with some musical knowledge carrying over from my time in my school district's music program. I'm graduated (2009) and have been driving my work hard in recent months. If I were to offer one suggestion, is that you all keep using soundation studio. Partly because it is completely free (besides the paid accounts which give you extra features like uploading your own sounds and samples) but also that If it is something that really interests you, keep at it.

I was so excited to hear the lecture on data-driven and algorithmic music that I tried a project using the concept. http://soundation.com/user/ElizbethE/track/data-driven-comp-from-ebird, My track represents data collected on Ebird.org from the National Wildlife Refuge in Ridgefield, WA. Each beat is a week's worth of data. Variations in pitch, volume, or frequency indicate changes in the number of birds. Each sound represents one of 6 species. Crow (cello), snow goose (chiming sound), barn owl (church bell reversed, clipped to fit one beat), wood duck (fountain), barn swallow (cymbal).
